Xlendi - My New Favourite Place in Malta

xlendi malta

Why have I not been informed about this beautiful little town before now?

In case you haven't heard either, it is well worth a visit next time you are on the beautiful island of Gozo.  Xlendi is in the South-West, a small little town which has developed from fishing village into a touristy Riviera-style resort.

We visited in May, so the weather was good but the town was not too crowded. Booked a hotel room for 2 in the Ulyssses Apart-Hotel for just €50 with continental-style(-ish) breakfast included.  Great value and just a few steps from the waterfront.

So what exactly does one do in Xlendi?

Not a tremendous amount other than sitting at bars and restaurants and admiring the view.  For the more energetic: a not-too-demanding cliff walk will work off a few calories; you can just jump into the water and splash about; and there are diving schools happy to take you out for some sub-aquatic adventures.

Mainly I would recommend Xlendi as a good base from which to travel around the island - particularly if you either have a car or plan to use one of the 'Hop-On' bus services.  Otherwise there is a local bus which takes you up to Victoria once an hour.

Great spot to spend a night or two - you'll thank me later!
