Malta International Firework Festival

Who doesn't love lights and loud noises exploding into the night sky?  Nobody, that's who.

Malta is particularly fond of fireworks, even the ones that don't produce any fire or colour, but make up for it with concussive volume.  These are known as Petards (murtali) and are let off during the day in summer months, but the Firework Festival will showcase the full coloured fireworks instead.

So when is the festival happening?

- Friday April 25th:  This is the International competition being held in Marsaxlokk from 9PM and featuring participants from Austria, the UK, France and Malta.

- Saturday April 26th:  The National competition takes place in Bugibba from 9PM until 11PM.  (Make that Sunday.  Seems like it's been postponed by a day.)

 - Wednesday April 30th:  The Grand Finale happens in Valletta's Grand Harbour, and should be a grandstanding display of fireworks and music.
