This 'village' is located in the centre of Malta, on the site of an abandoned World War 2 airfield. The old Nissen huts have been converted into shops selling various bits and pieces. And that's the reason to come to the Crafts Village: to pick up souvenirs that you won't find anywhere else on the island and which are probably a little higher end in terms of quality. (Although there are some cheap and cheerful knock-off shops here too.) So this is the place for your jewellery, glassware, leather and linen needs. It's located in the same area as the National Aviation museum, the National Park, and the National Stadium, so enough here to keep you busy after you've done your shopping.
By the way, you will probably want to try and pronounce the name of this place while you're there or en route, and it's not the "Ta Kalee" pronunciation you might expect. 'Q's are a little bit tricky in Malta. It's as if they aren't quite there, except for a heel-print left in the sand or a still smouldering cigarette butt.
So you acknowledge the presence of the silent 'Q' with a sort of hiccup as you say: "Ta - 'AH - Lee". Tricky business this Maltese language...
